FIRE CUPPING THERAPY

FIRE CUPPING (DRY)

Fire cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that has been used for thousands of years to help relieve pain, improve circulation, and support the body's natural healing process.

During treatment, glass cups are briefly heated and placed on the skin to create gentle suction. This suction lifts the underlying tissue, helping to increase blood flow, release muscle tension, and encourage the movement of stagnant fluids. Fire cupping is commonly used alongside acupuncture as part of a personalized treatment plan but can also be performed as a standalone therapy when appropriate.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, pain and illness can result from stagnation of Qi (energy) and blood within the body. Fire cupping is believed to help restore the healthy flow of Qi and circulation, supporting the body's ability to heal while promoting overall balance and wellness.

Benefits of Fire Cupping

  • Relieve pain and muscle tension: The suction created by the cups helps reduce muscle tightness, improve mobility, and ease discomfort in the back, neck, shoulders, and other areas of the body.

  • Reduce stress and promote relaxation: Many people find cupping deeply relaxing, helping to reduce stress and encourage a greater sense of well-being.

  • Improve circulation: Increased blood flow to the treated area may help reduce inflammation, support tissue recovery, and promote healing.

  • Support recovery: Fire cupping is commonly used to aid recovery from overuse, exercise, and musculoskeletal injuries by encouraging circulation and reducing muscle tension.

  • Support overall wellness: As part of a comprehensive Chinese medicine treatment plan, fire cupping may help support the body's natural healing processes and overall health.

Please note: It is normal for cupping to leave temporary circular marks on the skin. These marks are not bruises and typically fade within several days to two weeks, depending on the individual and the intensity of the treatment.

DRY CUPPING -vs- WET CUPPING

Dry cupping and wet cupping are two different forms of cupping therapy, a traditional Chinese therapy that has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of conditions.

Dry cupping involves the use of cups to create suction on the skin, without the addition of any liquids. The cups are typically left in place for 5-15 minutes, during which time the suction is believed to improve circulation, relieve pain and muscle tension, and promote overall wellness.

Wet cupping, on the other hand, involves making small incisions on the skin, typically on the back, and then using cups to create suction. The suction is believed to help remove toxins and impurities from the body. Wet cupping is also sometimes referred to as "hijama" or "hijamah".
