Moving with the patterns of the nonhuman world, on full moon and new moon days this workshop will combine 45 minutes of yoga flow with 30 minutes of relaxation and distal acupuncture overlooking the waters of the Mississippi at Gluek Park.
Combine movement and breathwork to relax, stretch, and strengthen the body during yoga. Modifications to postures will be given to keep movement accessible to all levels of experience and comfort.
Distal acupuncture (from the knees down, elbows, down, ears, face and forehead) will be performed by Noah Rohlich, L.Ac and Rachel Johnson, L.Ac, as participants are guided into a state of deep rest using elements of mindfulness meditation.

Society places a badge of honor on those who are over-committed and upholding a busy life. With continual outside pressure, the adrenal glands have to work overtime to make enough stress hormones to sustain the perpetual cycle.
Our bodies struggle to balance the increased levels of adrenaline and cortisol in the bloodstream. In return, the body responds by increasing the production of balancing hormones with opposing energies (ie. estrogen, progesterone, testosterone).
This strains our adrenal glands and hormonal system. Eventually, our bodies simply can’t keep up with the demand. The endocrine system then gives signals that something is off.
Eat This! What is Digestion and what Causes Imbalance with Kamie
Along with digestion of food, unhealthy or irregular dietary habits, unmanaged and accumulated stress, unsupportive relationships, inactive lifestyles, and environmental toxins can challenge your body’s ability to digest food properly. A weak digestive system results in the accumulation of ama, or toxins, that cause imbalance, disease, and premature aging. I struggle with fear and misinformation surrounding health and wellness, especially concerning the female reproductive system. We are taught that our menstrual cycles are a curse--that we should dread it--and that menopausal symptoms are unavoidable. This couldn't be further from the truth, and it makes me worried about the future of womanhood.
We live in fear of "what-if" scenarios. What if I can't conceive? What if I have cramps and heavy periods my whole menstruating life? What if menopause is unbearable?
Did you know that our menstrual cycles are a way for our bodies to detoxify? It is a valuable indicator of what could be out of balance during the previous month. The ancient ayurvedic text writes that the uterus cries when we bleed because it didn't bear a child. I love knowing that.
As women now in our 40s, I feel that we have a disconnect from our authentic selves, fertility, menstrual cycles, and what it means to age gracefully. Reconnecting with what it means to be a woman has been vital in my life as I process my miscarriage, divorce, heavy periods, and sexual trauma. I didn't heal until I took the time to connect with nature's rhythms and my cycle. Only then could I uncover my past and embrace what it means to be a woman.
Ladies, we need to understand how to adapt to changes, welcome our bodies' signals to heal, and surrender to their cries. We also need to fully explore our emotions, desires, urges, and the past.
It takes real courage to do things differently--to stop avoiding self-care, running from the past, pushing beyond our limits, trying to please everyone, and spreading ourselves too thin. Stop looking outside yourself for satisfaction. Connect with yourself and have the life you deserve to enjoy.

According to Ayurveda, strong immunity is a product of good digestion, quality liver functioning, and appropriately balanced hormones.
We’ve all experienced our body crashing, and our health deteriorates as we fall to the inconvenience of a cold, the flu, allergies, or COVID. Most of us would rather not get sick, and given a choice, who would refuse a robust immune system? We all want to be healthy to avoid illness and disease. So, how do we support our immunity?
Ayurveda teaches us that Ojas (vitality) and immunity are the natural outcomes of optimal health, which depends on a strong digestive fire (Agni), a healthy diet, a supportive lifestyle, and a balanced nervous system. With this knowledge, supporting our immune system is often more about necessary self-care than anything else. Our bodies thrive with proper nutrition and adequate sleep; they do even better when we commit to stress management, cultivate healthy relationships, embrace joy and purpose, and living in alignment with our authentic self.
We will cover a few basics to give you a foundation for building your immunity and some tip on what herbs and supplements are also helpful.
The research that I have studied comes from eastern and western perspectives. I am fortunate to live when Western medicine is providing guidelines and practices that eastern medicine has been implementing for thousands of years.

Society places a badge of honor on those who are over-committed and sustaining a busy life. With continual outside pressure, the adrenal glands must work overtime to make enough stress hormones to maintain the constant cycle.
Our bodies' adrenals struggle to support cortisol's increased need and respond by stealing from our thyroid and reproductive systems. Eventually, our bodies can't keep up with the demand. The endocrine system then gives signals that something is off. This causes some common symptoms such as weight gain and, in some cases, extreme weight loss; increased menopausal, perimenopausal, or PMS symptoms; infertility, decreased energy, cravings for sugary or salty foods, digestive issues, high or low blood pressure; feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or moody; reduced concentration and brain fog; compromised immunity, sleeping issues, decreased libido, and inability to slow down.
Take a moment to ask yourself a few questions.
Do I startle easily when the phone rings or when I hear a loud noise?
Do I feel anxious about checking calls, texts, emails, and mail?
Do I focus my energy on things that could go wrong today, tomorrow, a week from now, in the future?
Do I focus more on the one thing that went wrong during my day rather than the things that went right?
Do I feel anxiety, stress, and worry for no particular reason?
Do I feel anxiety, stress, and fear for whatever reason?
Do I have panic attacks?
Do I have depression?
Am I exposed to environmental toxins, like paint smells, plastics, industrial and city pollution, new construction, renovation projects, new furniture, or a new car?
Do I experience any of the following symptoms with my menstrual cycle: headaches, mood swings, acne, bloating, constipation, heavy or scanty bleeding, clots, painful cramps, irregular period, pain during ovulation, or bleeding between cycles?
Do I use synthetic hormones of any kind, like birth control pills, fertility drugs, or hormone replacement therapy for menopausal symptoms?
Do I have hot flashes, insomnia, heart palpitations, heart disease, osteoporosis, accelerated heartbeat, thyroid trouble of any kind, low immunity, infertility, cancer, diabetes, adrenal burnout, or endocrine disorders?
If you said yes to any of these questions, you likely have a hormonal imbalance.

Our body struggles to balance the increased adrenaline levels and cortisol levels in the bloodstream throughout a stressful day due to constant sympathetic nervous system activation. Our body's natural response is to increase balancing hormones with opposing energies (i.e., estrogen, progesterone, testosterone). In turn, this puts a strain on our adrenal glands and hormonal systems. Eventually, our bodies can't keep up with the demand.
At first, our endocrine system signals that something is off, but eventually, more severe health concerns show up, such as weakened immunity, digestive issues, anxiety, depression, hormonal imbalances, and more.
Join Kamie as she explains what the hormones in our body do and simple practices to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to stop the sympathetic (stress response) from starting.
